SERMON TEXT: Acts 2:1-24 and Isaiah 29:1-12 PREACHER: Rev. Kim James OCCASION: June 4, 2017, at First UMC INTRODUCTION Many of you have heard me say this before, but I think it’s worth repeating. I believe that Pentecost is the most important Christian holiday. What?! Yes, the most important. Hear me out. What if Jesus were born at Christmas, but no one told anyone about it? Or, what if Jesus died and rose again at Easter, and no one spoke the good news? We are Christians today because those early disciples, and generations of believers ever since, felt the power of Pentecost. And the only way we will successfully continue to transmit Christian faith to our children and neighbors is through this Holy Spirit of hope. Continue reading
